Winds Aloft was a quarterly newsletter of the 511 Parachute Infantry Regiment Association. It was published from 1987 to 2010, with 109 issues. Most stories were written by 511PIR troopers, forty or more years after World War II.

    The 511 was part of the 11th Airborne Division in WWII. They fought in the Pacific theater.

    This site hopes to honor the efforts of the 511 Parachute Infantry Regiment and is intended for educational purposes only.

    Machine Gun Sass is a soon-to-be-published book based in part on short stories written for the Winds Aloft newsletters.
